The Religions for Peace Tas branch gathering for this month will be held on Saturday 19 November 2016 from 10am-4.00pm at the UTAS Multifaith Centre, TUU Building, Churchill Ave, Sandy Bay. Rev John Carroll, Secretary of Australian Religious Response to Climate Change at the headquarters in Sydney, will facilitate a workshop entitled Spirituality and Climate Activism.
The ACP Talk website was designed in collaboration with Australian religious and cultural leaders and organisations. It is intended to provide informational support for health professionals conducting advance care planning with people from different religious and cultural backgrounds. The website is open access and may be utilised by members of the general public.

Due the work – and the reports – of Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, it has emerged that all jurisdictions must put into place protections for children in all institutions in the community and set forth standards for Child Safe Organisations. Multicultural and Multi-faith organisations will also be required to comply. The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV) and the Victorian Cooperative on Children’s Services for Ethnic Groups (VICSEG) have been contracted by the Commission for Children and Young People to assist organisations like these to meet the Child Safe Standards.

Buddhism is Australia’s second largest religion, and has a long history dating back to at least the 1850s Gold Rush period, yet the life stories of prominent Buddhists in Australia have remained largely undocumented until now. Buddhist leaders and community members in Australia felt there was an urgent need to record these stories and to preserve them for future generations.

An introductory presentation to the project will be given by Jill Shanti, who was a member of the Interfaith Working Group of the resource produced by the Greater Dandenong Interfaith Network.
