Adelaide: International Day of Peace
International Day of Peace is a program commemorating the 2021 International Day of Peace: Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world. This will feature Dr Lynn Arnold AO as Keynote Speaker, and Guest Speakers Ms Nadia Rahim and Ms Gillian Aldridge OAM. This event will be held at St Peter’s Cathedral, North Adelaide on Tuesday 21 September 2021 at 6.30pm – 8.00pm.

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster loses bid for legal recognition as incorporated entity
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster will remain in the realms of satire, after an attempt to have its Australian wing formally recognised was rejected by a South Australian legal authority on the grounds that the purported religion is nothing more than a “hoax”.

Refugee Week commences on Sunday 20 June, which is World Refugee Day. Celebrate and reflect on the art of welcome & belonging (while raising funds in support for Circle of Friends Pilgrim) and hear more about the work of Circle of Friends and Justice for Refugees. The celebration is at Pilgrim Uniting Church, 12 Flinders St, Adelaide on evening of 22 June.

The period 20 April – 1 May is observed by the Bahai Community as the Festival of Ridvan. This is the Baha’i commemoration of the twelve-day period that Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i faith, spent in the Garden of Ridvan in the last days of his exile in Baghdad, and publicly proclaimed His mission as God’s messenger for this age. The first, ninth and twelfth days are celebrated as holy days. The Prime Minister has sent one message to the Baha’i community in Australia.

Sacred People Sacred Earth – Adelaide Sounds the Alarm on Climate Emergency
On 11th March at 11.00am religions and faiths all over the world will protest the shocking inaction on climate change by our governments, organised by Greenfaith International and the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change in Australia. In Adelaide, there will be an assembly on the steps of Parliament House, North Terrace, at 11 AM.

Hope’s Café is a joint project between Uniting Communities and the Clayton Wesley Uniting Church (Beulah Park, South Australia). It is run by Uniting Communities and is a place for people to come together to help each other to make a better community. Connect for Children happens every Tuesday from 11:00 to 12:30.
2020 Australian Refugee Association Oration: The Future is Intercultural
The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre (UniSA) and Australian Refugee Association (ARA) present the 2020 Oration, The Future is Intercultural. This oration will examine Australian capacity to interact across all cultures in a post-pandemic world. Intercultural competence will be explored in the Oration.
