Museums program bringing faiths together
An innovative new program is bringing together students from Melbourne’s Jewish and Islamic communities to build bridges and foster respect and acceptance. The ‘Museums Together’ project is seeing a hundred students from King David School and Sirius College come together to share experiences, culture and knowledge of their respective religions.
Religions for Peace Looks to its Future
The 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace was held last month at in Lindau, Germany on Lake Constance. This was a large and diverse gathering, 900 participants from 125 countries, thoroughly prepared and organized around the theme “Caring for our Common Future – Advancing Shared Well-Being.” The outcomes are reflected in a Declaration which highlights the broad issues discussed, and focuses on several “action points,” effectively a study agenda for interfaith students and activists everywhere. The Declaration acknowledges that “we are experiencing what we call a ‘meta-crisis’ of our modern order,” and the balance of the document unpacks how, together, we need to respond.

A 12-member delegation consisting of senior Buddhist, Christian, Muslim and Hindu leaders from Myanmar has travelled to Indonesia for a historic visit facilitated by Religions for Peace (RfP)International at the invitation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. The delegation met with H.E. Vice President Jusuf Kalla as well as leaders of the Interreligious Council of Indonesia-RfP, consisting of Indonesian Ulama Council, Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah, Catholic Bishops Conference, Communion of Churches and Hindu, Buddhist and Confucian Associations.
