On Sunday 19 February 2017, the Victorian Government released its Multicultural Policy Statement and supporting campaign Victorian. And Proud of it. There is much in this campaign which supports social cohesion, multiculturalism and builds on the strengths of engagement with multifaith communities and their Interfaith Networks.
Victoria: Funeral and Burial Instructions
The Victorian Law Reform Commission has examined the legal status of funeral and burial instructions of a deceased person. The Commission’s report – and video – explain what is important, what the law says (in each state and other jurisdictions) and what changes might improve matters. This is of extreme importance in the case of the indigenous peoples, who have a need for burial “on country”.
South Australia: Faith Reflections on Nuclear
The Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission was established by the South Australian Government on 19 March 2015 to undertake an independent and comprehensive investigation into the potential for increasing South Australia’s participation in the nuclear fuel cycle. It was required to, and did, report to the Governor of South Australia by 6 May 2016. Multifaith South Australia is inviting Faith Reflections on Nuclear on two occasions: October 2nd and October 23, at the Joinery, Franklin St, Adelaide.

MENA Leaders Address Violent Extremism & Advance Citizenship Ahead of G7 Summit
(TOKYO, JAPAN, 13 MAY 2016) As heads of state from the world’s major economies are arriving in Japan for the G7 Summit, world renowned religious leaders from the Middle East convened in Tokyo on 12-13 May to advance the full citizenship of all communities in Muslim majority states. Doing so, they stated, was an irreplaceable key to preventing and transforming violent extremism, Islamophobia and xenophobia.
