We hope that within the busyness of this time, we will all find time for quietness, inner peace and the reflection needed for inner transformation to face the challenges required by the times we are living in. Former head of Australia’s Human Rights Commission, Professor Gillian Triggs, will give an address on Religious Freedom in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week 2019 – at Melbourne University – on 5 February 2019.
NSW: Declaration of Human Rights – Solemn Mass
Special prayers will be uttered for the anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights during Solemn Mass, St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney on Sunday 16 December 2018.
Victoria: Launch of ‘Our Stories- Empathy and Education Leading to Action.’
The launch event for ‘Our Stories’ features the stories of four refugees building a new life in Australia. Alpha, Shabnam, David and Aya each arrived in Australia at a different time and from different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds – will occur at the LaunchPad Hub, Richmond on the evening of 11 December.
Victoria: Significant benefits of pastoral care confirmed in new report
A NEW report by researchers at ACU confirms the significant benefits of pastoral care to hospital patients and aged care residents. Almost all (99 per cent) of participants reported that that during their meetings with the pastoral practitioner they felt they were treated with dignity and respect.

An interfaith gathering held at the NSW Parliament on Tuesday 27 November organised by the Indian Crescent Society of Australia and hosted by Mr Jihad Dib MP and Dr Geoff Lee MP has called for interfaith education and dialogue in schools
Victoria: Commemoration of Genocide
In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly established 9 December as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. The Darebin Interfaith Network will conduct a two-stage commemoration on Sunday, 9 December 2018.
Walking Together: Remembering William Cooper
The William Cooper Legacy Project together with the Jewish Community Council of Victoria invite you to their Remembrance Walk at Flagstaff Gardens on evening of 6 December 2018. This will be followed by a smoking ceremony and Chanukiah lighting at Peppercorn Park, Alexandra Gardens.
