Victoria: Launch of Gesher 2019

Council of Christians and Jews Victoria LogoThe first edition of the Council of Christians and Jews (Victoria) journal, Gesher, appeared in October 1990. This journal strives to serve as a bridge between Christianity and Judaism. The Launch of Gesher 2019 will take place at Genazzano College, Kew, on the afternooon of 1 December 2019. Sister Pat Fox joined the Sisters of Sion congregation in 1969. After some years in the church, she studied law and worked at the Footscray Community Legal Centre, Legal Aid and Broadmeadows Community Legal Centre.

She came to national prominence in November 2018, when she was deported from the Philippines for her role in documenting human rights violations, after having come to the attention of President Duterte,

Sister Fox first went to the Philippines in 1990. During her time in the country, she was active in the Diocesan Justice and Peace Group, as well as serving as both the Central Luzon co-ordinator and National co-ordinator of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines. As a volunteer with the National Agricultural Workers Union, she helped document human rights violations as a result of the imposition of martial law in the Mindanao region in the south of the Philippines.
