Religions for Peace UK Declaration

Religions for Peace UK

Religions for Peace UK has issued a declaration stating that all need to stand together and show ISIS and their ilk our unity, our humanity. It is time to look beyond our religious and national interests, and confront together this threat to all civilised societies, say RfP UK.

We, the UK Chapter of Religions for Peace, a multi-religious platform, support the various declarations from Muslim Organizations in UK, in condemning the heinous acts of a deluded group, calling itself the Islamic State.

We deplore their actions against individuals and groups, their cowardly murders of unarmed men, women and children.

We denounce their concept of no freedom, no liberty no justice for anyone other than themselves.

Their actions against humanity cannot be justified by any scripture or have the blessing of the One who has many names.

We remind ourselves of the Vienna Declaration May 2013 of or sister organization the European Council of Religious Leaders: “Freedom of Religion – rights and commitments” in which the Council members pledged:

We will stand together against threats to the full enjoyment of religious freedom. As religious leaders we recognise a particular obligation to speak out against threats to the religious freedom of others when they come from within our own communities.

During this difficult period in our world history we need to stand together and show ISIS and their ilk our unity, our humanity. It is time to look beyond our religious and national interests, and confront together this threat to all civilised societies.
