Victoria: The Gift of Life Forum



The Brimbank Maribyrnong Interfaith Network and Donate Life Victoria presents a Forum on The Gift of Life at Avalokitesvara Yuan Tong Monastery, Sunshine on 4th of August 2018.


 

This forum aims to raise faith and religious communities awareness of the benefits of donating organs to save (or relief) sick people who are suffering due to the malfunction of their own organs. In this forum members of the Brimbank Maribyrnong Interfaith Network and Donate Life Victoria will present their view of organ and tissue donation. Short presentations will be will be given from the perspective of:

  • Buddhist faith – Ven Phuoc Tan of Quang Minh Temple
  • Christian Faith – Ray Gorman, Uniting Church, Sunshine
  • Sikh Faith – Kawal Singh, Sikh Interfaith Council
  • Salvation Army – Colin Reynolds, Salvation Army Sunshine
  • Muslim faith – Nayran Tabiei, community leader
  • The event will also include speakers from Donate Life Victoria.

This is a free community event and will include light refreshments.

Did you know that “In 2017, 1,402 Australians received a lifesaving transplant through the generosity of 510 deceased organ donors and their families who agreed to donation at the time of their loved one’s death” (Donate Life Victoria)
