nuclearThe Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission was established by the South Australian Government on 19 March 2015 to undertake an independent and comprehensive investigation into the potential for increasing South Australia’s participation in the nuclear fuel cycle. It was required to, and did, report to the Governor of South Australia by 6 May 2016. Multifaith South Australia is inviting Faith Reflections on Nuclear on two occasions: October 2nd and October 23, at the Joinery, Franklin St, Adelaide.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has released a report that has found the social, institutional and cultural context in which a family operates deeply influences disclosure of child sexual abuse. The report, Family relationships and the disclosure of institutional child sexual abuse, examined the long-term effects of disclosures of institutional child sexual abuse on families and was prepared by the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS).

Vatican Press Office Speaks Out on Renewed Attention to Sex Abuse Crisis

lombardiFollowing the depositions of Cardinal George Pell before the Royal Commission, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, released a statement regarding sexual abuse in the Church. Fr Lombardi’s statement The sensationalist presentation of these two events merits some reflection and discrimination. The international media are catching up with what has been happening and how the Church has responded in the past, albeit inadequately. Now, in Rome itself, immediate awareness and responses by high ranking Vatican officials has captured media attention. The Vatican Press Office highlights the Church’s responses under this papacy (Pope Francis) and the earlier papacy of Pope Benedict, who told, “there is filth in the Church and it has to be removed”.
