Walk Together Parade

Welcome to Australia (www.welcometoaustralia.org.au) is a national not for profit organisation who exist to engage everyday Australians in the task of cultivating a culture of welcome in our nation. We run many programs that aim to connect new arrivals with their communities.
One of the ways Welcome to Australia celebrates its core message of Welcome is to hold an annual Walk Together parade where people from across the nation, and from various cultures and backgrounds join together in a positive and uplifting parade, spreading the message to all that “You are Welcome Here”
In Melbourne we have a fabulous line up of speakers and performers, including:
- Comedian Tom Ballard
- Father Bob
- Nova presenter Meshel Laurie
- The Voice contestants Thando and Krishool
- Melbourne soul songstress Florelie Escano
- … and more!!
The parade will be led by Chinese Lion dancers, with loads of Walk participants wearing national costumes, playing music and flying banners with positive, welcoming messages!
It’ll be a fantastic family-friendly day out, with food vans and entertainment at the end of the walk, plus some fun activities for the kids.
Organisations, community groups & religious groups of all faiths are invited to participate in the Walk and promote their group, and join in the festivities with music, dance & a spirit of unity.
Many religious organisations have had such a positive influence on the community, encouraging acceptance of all people in Australia, and leading by example when it comes to welcoming new arrivals. We would love to see people of all faiths embrace our Walk Together and join us for the parade!
