Day of Peace, Perth

International Day of Peace celebration in Perth was opened by the Vice President of the United Nations Association of WA, Ricardo Hernandez. An account of this event is given below from Eva Sautzer of Western Australia.

Once again we gathered together for International Day of Peace . Even though it was raining cats and dogs folks disregarded this phenomena and came pouring in to the meeting to pay their respect to our precious World. There was around 20 participants from different faiths that filled our program with music, prayers, meditation, songs and dancing.

Ricardo Hernandez Vice President UNAAWA opened the event . He commented that the “Celebration of World Day of Peace 2014 was put together excellently, and this was shown by the high attendance. I am pleased to say the UNAAWA will continue to support it in years to come.”

It was a noble feeling to experience the many faiths joined together to create the culture of peace, love and unity . Everyone forgot their customs and the only language that shone through was peace, kindness, care and compassion.

This year the youth were well represented in the program. However it was lovely to notice the range of ages present: an age group from (just over) one-year-old to 86-years-old!

It was very hearting to know that everyone wished to contribute one way or another; there was cheering and encouragement to participate. Here are some of the comments of the afternoon:

  • Congrats for the successful function through your untiring effort.
  • On behalf of the Hare Krishna Temple Perth Community, thank you once again for your kind invite. It was really lovely to celebrate this significant event in will all present.
  • Thank you both very much indeed for giving us a platform to be part of the International Day of Peace Event, 21st Sept 2014.
  • It was very well organised and I think everyone present felt blessed to be there.
  • It was a great honour to be part of a group of like minded people who share a similar vision of a violence free, stress free society to make this a place a one world family. Indeed we are all ambassadors of peace.
  • Of course it goes without saying that creating waves of happiness and peace is still an ongoing “project” and we will keep working on it.
  • Looking forward to working with you in similar future events.
