Victoria: World Peace Flag Ceremony, Geelong

Geelong Interfaith Network and City of Greater Geelong will observe the UN International Day of Peace with local walk with flags of all nations. The celebrations have a focus: May Peace Prevail On Earth

International Day of Peace has been a United Nations declared day since 1981, but in 2002, the 21st September became the yearly designated day; People usually celebrate within the week around this. The aim is to strengthen the ideals of peace across all nations and peoples & also to recognise the efforts of individuals, organisations and governments to end conflict and promote peace.

The Geelong Interfaith Network and the City of Greater Geelong invite you to join hearts in prayers for peace and harmony for individuals, each world nation and all life on earth.

Join a World Peace Flag Ceremony honouring individual countries with their flag, followed by a Peace Walk procession around the city, carrying the handmade flags of each world nation.
