'Understanding Each Other' – A Joint Journey to Jerusalem

jerusalem

Twelve people, from the Jewish, Christian, Muslim faiths, embarked on an incredible journey of discovery. They visited each other’s historical sacred places to study and share texts, to listen to each other’s story and to truly ‘meet’ in the City of Jerusalem which is so sacred to all three traditions.

Rabbi Adam Stein (Kehilat Nitzan Synagogue), Rev. Dr John Dupuche (Catholic Priest, Ricketts Point), and Sheikh Riad Galil OAM (West Heidelberg Mosque) led a group on a ‘Joint Journey’ to Jerusalem in May, 2014.

The group will consisted of twelve people, four from each of the three Abrahamic faiths, comprising clergy and lay people, men and women. The visit to Jerusalem took place from Sunday, 18 May to Tuesday, 27 May 2014.

The purpose of the trip is to visit each other’s sacred places in Jerusalem, to study texts from our sacred writings, to discuss points of agreement and disagreement, and so sense the religious experience that is proper to each faith.

Come along on Sunday 3rd August 2.00pm – 5.00pm to hear their personal experiences and reflections. Ask questions. Gain insight into how three faiths found common ground and explored the light and shadow sides of their relationships’.
