Wyndham Interfaith Network, Wyndham Community and Education Centre and Wyndham City will present a special screening of the documentary Mary Meets Mohammad as a part of Refugee Week 2014 activities.
This film follows the establishment of Tasmania’s first detention centre through the eyes of local Christian woman and knitting club member Mary and Muslim Afghan Hazara asylum seeker Mohammad, who is detained inside the centre, as they connect through the gift of a knitted beanie. Wyndham City aims to use this event and other initiatives to actively promote cultural diversity, foster understanding and celebrate the benefits of multiculturalism. The Wyndham Interfaith Network aims to foster harmonious relationships between Wyndham community members of different religious and cultural backgrounds.
Refreshments will be served by Saffron Kitchen in the foyer from 6.30pm.
