Networking event 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Join us from 5:30pm for complimentary carbon neutral Ross Hill Wines, Red Hill Brewery beer and refreshments at this pre-panel networking event. This will give you the chance to connect with people from diverse work backgrounds and disciplines, all of who have a shared interest in how religion, spirituality and values influence our society’s progress towards better outcomes in the face of climate change.

Panel discussion 6:30pm – 8:00pm

In June 2017, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Hindus came together to start an interfaith dialogue on climate change – acknowledging they each have a shared goal of protecting the environment. This came less than two years after the Pope’s famous encyclical on climate change, urging Catholics to take responsibility for reducing greenhouse gases. At the same time, the Church of Tuvalu was working hard to educate its followers about the dangers of interpreting the story of Noah and the great floods too literally as the low-lying country faces sea level rise.

This event will explore the ways our beliefs and values influence our concern and drive to act on climate change. The panel will reflect a range of religious denominations as well as Indigenous Australians’ spiritual perspectives.
