Buddha’s Birthday will be celebrated at University of Tasmania Multifaith Centre on Saturday, May 25th, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The celebration is provided by Buddhism@UTas and the Tasmanian Buddhist Chaplaincy Support Group.
Buddha’s Birthday, the birthday of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama, is a holiday traditionally celebrated in Mahayana Buddhism.
Programme:
9.30 am, puja/service of celebrating the life of the Buddha, Bathing the Baby Buddha and a short Dharma talk.
10.30 am -12 noon Sharing stories of Buddhist service to the community in Hobart including the growing work of Buddist chaplains and pastoral care workers.
12 noon: shared lunch. Please bring something vegetarian to share with others.
All are welcome to join with us on this joyous occasion and to discover some of what the Buddhist community in Hobart is doing.
