Greetings of peace! Religions for Peace Tasmania Branch will be participating in the Tamar Peace Festival and the extraordinary vigil for peace on Hiroshima day.

Greetings of peace!

Quite a few of us around the state will be joining in the Tamar Peace Festival being held in and around Launceston during this month and particularly this week. It’s a remarkable event and we hope lots of people take the opportunity to focus on peace together and to spread its experience.

Among the many beautiful offerings, Shari Landeg from the Tasmanian Interfaith Network will be leading a World Peace Meditation called Hearts in Harmony on Thursday 27 July from 4.15-5.30pm in Room 2, Launceston LINC 8 High St East Launceston http://www.tamarcommunitypeace.org.au/events-2017-1/2017/7/27/hearts-in-harmony-world-peace-meditation

Tom Teniswood from Byakko Shinko Kai will be leading a session on writing peace mandalas on Saturday 29 July from 10.30-12.30 in Room 1 of the Launceston LINC, 71 Civic Square: http://www.tamarcommunitypeace.org.au/events-2017-1/2017/7/29/mandala-writing-for-all

Alice Hawrylak from Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centre Hobart will be leading a meditation session called Discovering the Peace within: living from the inside out on Saturday 29 July from 12.30-1.30pm in Room 3 of the Launceston LINC, 71 Civic Square: http://www.tamarcommunitypeace.org.au/events-2017-1/2017/7/29/discovering-the-peace-within-living-from-the-inside-out

There will be transport leaving from the Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centre 51 Risdon Rd New Town (Cr Bell St) at 8am on Saturday 29 July and arriving back at approximately 5.00pm if anyone would like a lift. Please ring Terry on 6272 6521.

Hiroshima Day

In August we will join the vigil on Parliament Lawns at 11am on Saturday 5 August to commemorate Hiroshima Day. This is a very special vigil in view of the recent UN vote to ban nuclear weapons.

Parliament of the World’s Religions

Finally, the Board of the Parliament of the World’s Religions has just announced that Toronto Canada has been named as the next host for the Parliament of the World’s Religions 2018!

Soul Food

Soul Food Theme “The Light Within” exploring the light from religions, cultures and authors. Music will be John and Mia Williamson Vocal and Indian Meditative dancer Monica Rizarddi Sunday 6th August 3pm at the Baha’i Centre of Learning for Tasmania. 1 Tasman Highway Hobart. Tasmania Council of Churches

Everyone is invited to attend the annual meeting of the TCC which is to be held from 10.00am-3.00pm on Saturday 16 September at the Church of the Apostles, 44 Margaret St, Launceston.

The main speaker this year will be Bishop Philip Huggins, currently President of the National Council of Churches in Australia. Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting as observers.
