The focus of an event hosted by the Quakers

Shekinah is a Hebrew word meaning “dwelling” or “settling” and denotes the presence of God.

This concept is found in Judaism but the word never occurs in the Bible. Rather, it is implied as a principle of the dwelling place of the Divine. “The Society of Friends arose as a rediscovery of the ever-open inward springs of immediacy and revelation. George Fox and the Quakers found a Principle within men, a Shekinah of the soul, a Light.” You may interested in this event, led by facilitator Peter Bennett, to explore the way God has met with humankind through the Bible. Passages from Genesis to Revelation describe the Shekinah.

When: Thursday 7 December 2023, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
