Four Muslim community leaders provide advice and demonstrate to the Muslim community of Victoria, Australia on how to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Topics covered include the health impact of COVID-19, physical distancing, hygiene, testing, staying home if sick and financial assistance. We hear from Mohamed Mohideen (President of the Islamic Council of Victoria), Samira Zeno, Sheik Alaa Elzokm (Imam of the Heidelberg Mosque) and Maha Sukkar (Sergeant, Victoria Police).
The Islamic Council of Victoria has been coordinating and working alongside Australian Muslim Social Services Agency Mosque at 91 Boundary Road, on providing relief measures for the residents in the 9 towers in Flemington and North Melbourne. The wonderful work and enthusiasm of the volunteers from local community especially the younger members in ringing, checking on their well being and also on their needs was well received by the residents. Many of those volunteering have extended family in the apartments under lockdown.
They have been on the ground since the lockdown feeding the numerous residents with culturally appropriate halal food and providing medical supplies and other essential items.
Thank you to all the wonderful people who have made generous donations of cash, food, medicines, toys, etc.
