SYDNEY: With the background of anti-Muslim rallies being held by extremists in many cities of Australia, a number of speakers at the recently held conference at UWS warned that right-wing extremism was emerging as an equal, if not greater, threat than Muslim radicalisation in Australia.
“Advancing Community Cohesion” conference was held from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 July at The University of Western Sydney supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

In Conversation : Religious Freedom In A Secular & Multicultural Society is an Interfaith panel discussion hosted by St James Institute and Affinity Intercultural Foundation. St James Institue and Affinity Intercultural Foundation co-host a discussion between Human Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson, a Christian and a Muslim.
Members of Religions for Peace NSW Branch met at Parliament House. Discussion included the Sydney siege and the interfaith response to it, inter-religious events that had taken place or were coming up, as well as the various issues being tackled by the different faith communities such as domestic violence and the plight of refugees.
The NSW Council of Christians and Jews presents an evening with Rabbi Dr Raymond Apple, on “Peter and Paul; Scribes and Pharisees”.
The Sunday service at the Baha’i House of Worship in Sydney on 21 December will be dedicated to prayers for the innocent lives lost this week in Sydney and elsewhere in the world, and for the unity of the entire Australian community.
An interfaith service will be held tomorrow, 19 December, at St Mary’s Cathedral, St Mary’s Rd, Sydney at 9am in memory of the victims of the Sydney Siege.
