NSW: Interfaith Service in support of Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Interfaith ServiceThe NSW Ecumenical Council cordially invites you to an Interfaith Service for Refugees and Asylum Seekers at the Pitt St Uniting Church, Sydney, on 10 October 2019 from 4:30pm

The Interfaith Service is in support of the Tamil family who are in the dentention centre on Christmas Island. The Tamil family represents the many refugees and asylum seekers who are facing deportation from Australia. Currently, there are close to 70 million displaced people globally, and the Interfaith Service is in solidarity with their plight.

The command to love others as we love ourselves is not, of course, a uniquely Christian expression; rather, it is evidence of a universal truth – we cannot diminish others without diminishing ourselves…Father Rod Bower, Archdeacon for Justice Ministries, Anglican Diocese of Newcastle (The Saturday Paper, September 7-13 2019, p 7).
