Queensland: Chenrezig Institute Courses

Chenrezig Logo with dragonsChenrezig Institute is a Buddhist retreat and study centre nestled in the hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Established in 1974, the Institute was among the first Tibetan Buddhist centres in the Western World and remains one of the largest. Several courses are offered in November 2019.

with Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim

Buddha gave 84,000 teachings and the enormity of them can be overwhelming! These few short verses, the Three Principle Aspects of the Path, composed by Lama Tsong Khapa, are a beautiful and succinct guide to achieving happiness, drawing directly on the Buddha’s teachings.

Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim was born in Tibet in 1969. At the age of 14 he became a monk and was admitted to Sera Je monastery, where he was awarded his Geshe degree in 2005. Geshela spent a further two years studying tantra at Gyume Tantric Monastery. Geshela was appointed to the position of teacher of Buddhist philosophy at TCV School, Bylakuppee in 2006 where he spent two years teaching. He has been the resident Geshe at Chenrezig Institute for the past 5 years.

with Ven. Tsultrim

This workshop provides straightforward tools for developing happiness and meaning in everyday life by focusing on how we relate to others. We learn the deeper value of kindness, honesty, generosity and right speech.

It is suitable for people of all ages, faiths, and cultural backgrounds – using everyday language for people from any or no spiritual tradition.

Ven. Tsultrim is a counsellor with a Masters of International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution. She has worked extensively with people at risk of suicide and their family and friends over many years. Tsultrim has spent time in the the last few years in retreat in India and Nepal.
