Trans Tasman interfaith call celebrating Week of Prayer for World Peace

Logo for Week of PrayerWeek of Prayer for World Peace has been active since 1974. An Online Gathering for Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia is set for 8pm Sunday 13 October 2024 (NZ time), 6pm (Sydney and Melbourne time) and 3pm (in Perth). This will be the first interfaith online ‘Gathering’ for this region.

The Week of Prayer for World Peace was started as a Christian initiative in 1974. It soon became an interfaith activity, and now welcomes everyone, of all faith traditions or none. Our first Chair, the late Dr Edward Carpenter, former Dean of Westminster Abbey, established the guiding principle of the Week in the words “The peace of the world must be prayed for by the faiths of the world”, and this continues to be the basis of our work today.

You are invited to the Trans-Tasman Interfaith Gathering Call celebrating Week of Prayer for World Peace.

This year will be marking 50 years of Week of Prayer for World Peace. Please mark the date in your diaries for an Online Gathering for Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia at 8pm Sunday 13 October 2024 (NZ time), 6pm (Sydney and Melbourne time) and 3pm (in Perth).
