Since its launch in September 2023, the Guardians of the Rainforest documentary has been showcased at various international fora, including in the World Economic Forum and, Vaasa Wildlife Festival Film Competition, and more. Guardians of the Rainforest not only highlights the critical issues affecting the world’s remaining rainforests, but we hope it will also inspire action and solidarity with the Indigenous Peoples who serve as its guardians.

Guardians of the Rainforest highlights Religions for Peace’s vital work with Indigenous women and communities who serve at the frontlines of combating deforestation in Brazil, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Indonesia. Featuring conversations with women leaders from various tribes (Dâw, Dayak, Pygmy, and Tuyuka peoples), the film documents the traditional ways of life of diverse Indigenous communities, highlighting their sacred relationship with the rainforest, grounded in love and respect for Mother Earth and rich interpretations of humanity’s role as its guardians and stewards.
