Religions for Peace International, the world’s largest and most representative multi-faith organisation, is delighted to announce the winners of the highly anticipated inaugural Women of Excellence in Multi-Religious Action Award, recognising and honouring exceptional diverse women of faith who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing gender equality and fostering interfaith cooperation in their communities and beyond.

Religions for Peace, the world’s largest and most representative multi-faith organisation, is delighted to announce the winners of the highly anticipated inaugural Women of Excellence in Multi-Religious Action Award, recognising and honouring exceptional diverse women of faith who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing gender equality and fostering interfaith cooperation in their communities and beyond. After receiving nearly 100 nominations from across the world, the winners of the inaugural Women of Excellence in Multi-Religious Action Award are: Dr. Kezevino Aram, Co-Moderator, Religions for Peace; President, Shanti Ashram; Professor Dr. Nayla Tabbara, Co-President, Religions for Peace; Co-Founder, Adyan Foundation; and, Rev. Sr. Agatha Ogochukwu Chikelue, Chair, Religions for Peace International Women’s Coordinating Committee (IWCC); Executive Director, Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP), Nun of the Daughters of Mother Mary of Mercy, respectively. Hailing from diverse regions and religious backgrounds, these extraordinary leaders have demonstrated exemplary dedication to fostering dialogue, social justice, and community-building. Their stories are a testament to the positive impact that women of faith can have on shaping a more inclusive and harmonious world.

Established in 2023, the Women of Excellence in Multi-Religious Action Award is integral to Religions for Peace’s commitment to promote diversity, equity, and the empowerment of women across different religious traditions. The Award serves as a platform to celebrate the vital role that women of faith play in building bridges, promoting peace, and addressing social challenges.

Religions for Peace is hosting the Women of Excellence in Multi-Religious Action Award Ceremony on 26 March 2024 in New York City, to recognise the awardees. Winners will be invited to discuss their work, the importance of receiving the Award, and how it can support the continuation of their work. The recipients will present alongside other distinguished speakers and will be showcased on the Religions for Peace website and social media platforms.

Ms. Deepika Singh, Deputy Secretary General and Director of Programmes at Religions for Peace noted, “These women have not only made significant contributions to their communities, but also serve as inspirational figures in the ongoing global effort to advance gender equality and interfaith understanding. Religions for Peace is honoured to highlight them and their work.”
