For four days from 21-24 September the Raising Peace Festival will bring a series of speakers and workshops discussing the ever more important topic of how we can contribute to a peaceful world.

We will be exploring:

⇛ Personal peace: How can you cultivate peace in your own life?
⇛ Public peace: What can we do to create more peaceful communities?
⇛ Political peace: Getting involved in shifting the political discourse around peace and conflict

Our First Nations Stream this year focuses on the coming Referendum on the Voice and the Uluru Statement as an instrument of peacemaking. We continue to explore the march to militarisation. But we will also take time to celebrate the great work on peace being done from around the country.

In addition to our festival, some of our friends including the United Nations Association of Australia, Wage Peace and others are having their own events around this time. You can learn about their events on the Raising Peace Peace Calendar, which is updated regularly.

This Zoom peace festival is being run by a loose network of 30 plus progressive organisations https://raisingpeace.org.au/organisations/ which include ICAN, the Sydney Peace Foundation, The Medical Association for the Prevention of War, Pax Christi, Pace e Bene, Peacifca, Architects for Peace, Initiatives for Change.

A Multifaith Meditation on Peace

September 24 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

The Faith Communities Council of Victoria, the Victorian Council of Churches, Humanists Australia, Religions for Peace Australia and others have chosen reflections, prayers, meditations and songs that inspire a longing for peace from diverse faiths and other traditions. Peaceful relationships and peaceful communities are central in all faith traditions and these voices are important to hear to inspire us to work for peace. These contributions will affirm the peace in our body, mind, heart and soul that is the foundation for our outward work towards peace. Even if you are not “religious” or “spiritual” we hope this session will inspire you. See https://raisingpeace.org.au/event/a-multifaith-meditation-on-peace/
