The February session of Hope’s Cafe will take place on Friday evening: 28 February 2023, focussing on ‘Letting Go‘ – with any faith tradition.
Notions of ‘holy unrest’, frustration, wanting to move from a difficult or too-narrow-a-space or just being very tired of living life in the ‘same old’ mode, may offer different entry-points into this event for those with any faith-tradition.

Therese Gates will recount some of her religious journey of “letting go”. This is a complex topic, yet not an unusual occurrence across churches world-wide.
Hearing how a person, passionate about her relationship with God, decides to leave the church, despite years of leadership, may help some of us to learn how to support and deeply listen. Her struggle to understand her guiding light while she works hard to measure her integrity and values during this process may speak to those who had experienced or witnessed similar challenges. During the session, Therese will share how she didn’t know what to expect after her decision to ‘step away from church’. Her moving account may help some gain insight about the many layers to be explored.
We will serve a meal halfway through the session, and encourage interactive discussions at your table to enrich the evening! Our chef will prepare a delicious meal from their home country’s cuisine, and we ask for a cash-on-the-night ($15 to $20) help pay the chef. A gold coin-donation towards the use of the venue would also be much appreciated.
