NUCLEAR PRAYER DAY ~ AUGUST 6, 2022

United Religions Initiative

On August 6, 1945, at 8:15 AM, the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Since then, the potential for nuclear catastrophe has grown to an unimaginable scale.

This August 6th, the 77th anniversary of that horrific tragedy, people around the world will be joining with Voices – United Religions Initiativeworldwide – in prayer for a future free from the threat of nuclear weapons. Many will be praying on August 6th, but also all weekend long.

If you’re willing to join this global community of prayer at that time, please RSVP HERE and add your pin to the map here:  HERE. This will allow you to share what you/your organization will commit to doing so that we can all see and draw strength from the global reach of our prayers.

You can also share your participation on social media with the hashtag #NuclearPrayerDay2022. Click HERE to find promotional materials such as social media copy and images. Click HERE to view the press release.

We here at Voices (of United Religions Initiative) begin each meeting with a particular Nuclear Prayer which you can download: It is also available in many languages on the URI website HERE, using the Google Translate menu at the top of the page. Feel free to use another such prayer, perhaps one of your or your group’s own designs, and share this prayer with us when you drop your pin on the map below. We’d love to see and share these prayers with others.
