International Women’s Day 2022

UN International Women’s Day is observed annually on 8th March. This year, UN Women will be celebrating under the theme, Changing Climates: Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow – a theme that recognises the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are working to change the climate of gender equality and build a sustainable future.

SPEAKERS

** Kris Schaffer (Tas) is an indigenous horticulturalist, bush food expert, educator, consultant and artist with a life-time’s experience of being creatively embedded in nature. She shares that knowledge with especially the younger generation, teaching how to grow edible native plants. Kris established Tasmania’s first nursery of Indigenous Tasmanian plants.

** Dr Sue Ennis (Vic) Dr Sue Ennis is the Secretary of Religions for Peace Australia. A Quaker raised in a business family, she learned about ethical investments early in life. Deeply concerned about Climate issues, she has been instrumental in forming the ARRCC Divestment group.

** Vasundhara Kandpal (Vic) has spent more than 10 years in the field of environmental conservation. She founded the organisation “Green Karma” that works to educate different sections of society on the actions required to save our planet and secure a safer environment for our future generations.

** Rosemary Morrow (NSW) is an agricultural scientist, an international Permaculture Teacher and writer. She has worked in many countries where the needs are often desperate. She and has dedicated her efforts to refugees in war-torn countries and to communities seriously affected by climate change. She is a Quaker and peace activist.

** Caroline Bader (Germany) has been the co-director of Living the Change since its start in 2018, steers the GreenFaith International Network and coordinates GreenFaith’s engagement with German faith communities. She holds a diploma in religious education and a certificate in International Organisations Management. She has seen climate change first hand while living in India and Bangladesh and has since engaged for climate justice.
