The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre (UniSA) and Australian Refugee Association (ARA) present the 2020 Oration, The Future is Intercultural. This oration will examine Australian capacity to interact across all cultures in a post-pandemic world. Intercultural competence will be explored in the Oration.

Lockdown: Glen Osmond Gurdwara, Adelaide South Australia
In Australia, religious communities were one part of society expressly impacted by the ‘lockdown’ directives introduced to stem the spread of the virus. On 29 March all places of religious worship were effectively closed by the restrictions that limited non-essential indoor gatherings to two people. In Victoria, lockdown came again on 9th of July, with border closures. Here, we look to faith community experiences in time of lockdown. On this page, we look to the experience of the members of the Sikh community at Glen Osmond Gurdwara, Adelaide South Australia.

South Australia – Hope’s Cafe (Interfaith Matters) Cancelled
Following the sad news that meetings should be stalled until we know how to avoid the virus/vaccine is found we cancel the March meeting, which was due at the Baha’i centre. Next Interfaith meet (depending on health advise) is scheduled for 29 April (this time the 5th week in April – not the 4th week as is traditionally the case).

The first Interfaith Matters discussion at Hope’s Cafe will take place on Wednesday 26 February 2020 at 6pm. The theme will be Aboriginal Spirituality and faith.
Adelaide Fringe: Hip Hop for moral growth
Hesh (Hibble) is an acclaimed hip hop artist from the Melbourne based hip hop group called the Brothahood, a conscious hip hop group which promote positivity and meaningful messages through their music for young people. Hesh is now bringing that vibe and more to a younger group of children. He will be performing at the Adelaide Fringe from 22 February to 8 March.

Prof. Rick Sarre UniSA will give an address on “What does the Religious Discrimination Bill mean for all Australians from an Interfaith perspective?”

An interfaith service to pray together with people from all faiths for all affected by the fire will be held at St Peter’s Cathedral, 26 King William Road, North Adelaide on Sunday 26 January, 2020, 3 – 4.30pm.
