Victoria Police says it won’t investigate Vatican wire transfer claims

Cardinal George PellVictoria Police says there is no evidence to warrant an investigation into allegations that Vatican funds were used in an attempt to secure the conviction of Cardinal George Pell. Italian newspapers La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera earlier this month claimed a rival of Pell’s, former cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, was suspected of arranging for €700,000 ($1.1 million) to be transferred to people in Australia to support the prosecution of child sex abuse charges against Pell.

Resources on family violence – in language: audio-video

Victoria Police

Victoria Police has today launched videos in multiple languages to encourage people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to seek help if they are experiencing family violence.

The videos are available in English and 12 other languages: Arabic, Burmese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dari, Farsi, Greek, Italian, Punjabi, Macedonian, Turkish and Vietnamese.

These videos will soon also be available in an additional 13 languages: Hindi, Pashto, Khmer, Korean, Japanese, Serbian, Sinhalese, Spanish, Tamil, Thai, Malay, Somali, Russian and Polish.

Victorian Mosque Open Day to go ahead, says Islamic Council of Victoria

Tomorrow a mosque open day is being held in Victoria and police have said will increase the security presence around places of worship. Twenty-one mosques in Victoria plan to open their doors to the community to mark the beginning of Cultural Diversity Week. It’s the third year the open day has been held, with thousands of visitors attending in previous years.
