Tasmania Logo Greetings of Peace!In March 2020, Religions for Peace Tasmania will join with the Tasmanian Muslim Community Association and the Hobart Muslim community to honour the victims and martyrs on the first anniversary of the Christchurch Mosque attack. The event will be held on Sunday 15th March 2020 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Hobart Mosque, 166 Warwick Street, West Hobart.

Hobart will celebrate Diwali (Deepavali) on Friday 9 November from 4:00pm – 9:00pm at Franklin Square. Diwali is a festival of victory of light over darkness; it is observed in Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and the Sikh religion. The word ‘Deepavali’ literally means ‘rows of lamps’. The lamp is not merely the symbol of knowledge of Truth, but also of the one Spirit that shines in all.

Religions for Peace Australia is a global, community-based organisation working for global peace across the world and for social cohesion in Australia in other countries, and for peace and co-operation between the religions of the world. It works for an understanding of the benefits that religion and religious moderation brings to society, and works against religiously based extremism that is violent. Religions for Peace Australia has affiliates and branches in all states of Australia.
