2nd Annual Australian Islamic Schooling Conference



The 2nd Islamic Schooling Conference was held at Mt Lofty on 11-12 July 2017. The focus of the Conference was on curriculum development following the Melbourne Declaration on the Educational needs of Young Australians and the work of ACARA, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority. There was much in-depth examination of progress towards an Islamic school curriculum for Australia to suit primary and secondary education models, along with appropriate education in Arabic and integration of Islamic faith into the curriculum – the outcome of which is young Australians who contribute to the welfare of Australia by way of industry, productivity, and participation in Australian society.

The Institute for Religion, Politics and Society at the ACU will conduct a scholarly conference with outstanding international guests reflecting on Globalisation, Catholicism and Interreligious Dialogue in the Asia-Pacific region. The Vatican, Black Holes, and the Big Bang

What happens if you fall into a Black Hole? What happened in the early Big Bang? What is the ultimate destiny of the cosmos? These and other questions will be at the center of discussions at a scientific workshop on “Black Holes, Gravitational Waves and Space-Time Singularities” which will be held from May 9-12 at the Vatican Observatory in Castel Gandolfo. Among the 35 invited participants, are renowned scientists such as the 1999 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Gerald ‘t Hooft; 1988 Wolf Prize co-winner Roger Penrose; and cosmologists George Ellis, Renata Kallosh and Andrei Linde and Joe Silk.
