NSW: The value of dialogue – UCA Christian Jewish Dialogue 40th meeting

The dialogue between the Uniting Church and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry demonstrates that if you work hard enough and long enough at interfaith-relations, you build a solid foundation of trust and respect.

The 40th meeting of the Dialogue was held in Sydney on Tuesday, 28 April. As UCA Convenor Rev. Dr Matthew Wilson reports, the ability for members to discuss difficult questions with “openness, honesty and a degree of vulnerability” is a testament to the strength of the relationship between the two communities forged over 24 years of dialogue. Topics discussed have included the divinity of Jesus, the rise of anti-Semitism and critique of the policies of the government of Israel. Through dialogue, we have a richer understanding of each other, and both our communities have been enriched as a result.
