South Australia – Vigil for Peace

vigil

The Multifaith Association of South Australia will join the Welcome Centre in the Vigil for peace tonight (Thursday 19 Dec) at Elder Park, King William Road, Adelaide.

The Multifaith Association of South Australia will join the Welcome Centre and would like to extend an invitation to yourselves and your community to attend a vigil for peace on Thursday 8pm at Elder Park, where we gather to grieve for the tragic loss of Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson and to pray for peace and unity.

The online facebook event is found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1013483955332672/?fref=ts

We gather together for peace, because we know that diversity is what makes us great, respect is what defines us, and love is what unites us.

Event manager Marziya Mohammadi says; “This is to demonstrate solidarity with the friends and families of the deceased and injured victims at Lindt Cafe in Sydney”

“The greatest response to violence is love and the only way to halt hatred is compassion,” said The Welcome Centre manager Kate Leaney.

Australians must stand together against bigotry, intolerance, racism and fear wherever we find it. We choose unity, love and solidarity.

Supported by the South Australian Islamic Society, Australian Hazara Federation and attended by representatives from Anglican Church, Baptist Church, Uniting Church, Sikh and Baha’i communities.

Join us at 8:00pm Thursday 18 December at Elder Park in Adelaide in a visible demonstration that love reigns over fear.
