Everyone loves a good story, but what happens when our stories get us into trouble?

Join the Jewish Christian Muslim Association for a night of conversation with writer, actor and poet Osama Sami, including a showing of the film based on his story, ‘Ali’s Wedding’.

Osamah Sami is an Australian actor, writer, and comedian, born in war-torn Iran to Iraqi parents. His critically acclaimed memoir Good Muslim Boy was the Winner of the NSW Premier’s Literary Award and Highly Commended at the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, and has been adapted for the stage (sell-out seasons at Malthouse and Queensland Theatre Companies).

Osamah also co-wrote and starred in the hit Aussie rom-com Ali’s Wedding, which was the Winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at Sydney Film Festival, and The Age Critics Prize for Best Australian Film. His screenplay earned him an Australian Academy (AACTA) Award, an Australian Writers Guild Award, an Australian Film Critics Association Award, and a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Screenplay. He also received AACTA Award, FCCA Award and AFCA Award nominations for Best Lead Actor.

Osamah is also recognized as a “notable Australian Muslim” by the Commonwealth of Australia.
