Australian Church leaders have called on the government to release all detained children into residential care. This Canberra Refugee Forum will highlight this issue

A public meeting is being held in Canberra on Saturday 28 June, with inspiring speakers arguing for an Australian response to asylum seekers which is humane and just, and which honours Australia’s international obligations.

Speakers include human rights lawyer *Julian Burnside AO QC, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young *(The Greens) and* Professor William Maley AM,* a barrister of the High Court of Australia, Vice-President of the Refugee Council of Australia, and Foundation Director of the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy.
