Canberra – The Human Face of Climate Change

The Multifaith Association of South Australia has organised a timely Climate Briefing, entitled: “The Human Face of Climate Change – the real costs of inaction”.This unique faith-led event is co-sponsored by the Parliamentary Friends of Multiculturalism and Religions for Peace Australia, and will be held inside the Australian Parliament House for all parliamentarians.

A respectful but hard-hitting program brings into sharp focus the reality of climate change impacts on our world and highlights the collective will to call for urgent action.

Members of the Public are very welcome – please register and donate to help cover venue costs.

The Program includes:

Prof Mark Howden, Director Climate Change Institute ANU to provide an overview of the recent IPCC 1.5 Report;

A Panel of senior Faith Representatives to address the global call for Urgent Climate Action & Living the Change;

Stella Miria-Robinson, Pacific Islands Council of Qld, to speak on realities of climate-induced migration in Pacific;

Dr Ingo Weber, Doctors for Environment Aust., to speak on the Health Impacts of Climate Change on Children;

Jo Dodds, Bega Valley Shire Council to describe the urgency of tackling Climate Impacts in Regional Australia

The Parliamentary Friends of Multiculturalism, Multifaith SA and Religions for Peace are in full support of this event; this Briefing on Climate Change has solid non-partisan and interfaith support.

There has to be a recognition that escalating climate impacts call for unprecedented collaboration and commitment across all spheres of political and civic life, and acknowledging the benefit of bringing diverse communities and faiths together to shift the politics of denial.
