Seeing the Footprints of Our Ever-surprising God

Dr Anita Ray, ACU

Dr Anita Ray, a devout Christian, will speak about her personal journey of faith across three continents at the Shiva Ashram, Mt Eliza.

Dr Anita Ray, a devout Christian, will speak to us about her personal journey of faith across three continents. Leaving Australia to work as a clinical pharmacist in mission hospitals in India, she will highlight the profound transformation of her thinking, from a closed-minded view of those outside her own Christian community to the realization of the profound truth, beauty and holiness in other religious traditions. She interprets the many surprises of her life in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Singapore – all the highs and even the lows – as the footprints of the Lord.

Dr Anita Ray has lived in Pakistan, India and Singapore and has taught Sanskrit, Indian literature, Hindu Religious Traditions and Buddhism in Australian universities. She has a doctoral degree in Indian (Hindu) studies and is presently at the Centre for Inter-religious Dialogue, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy at Australian Catholic University, Melbourne. The focus of her present research is Christian-Hindu and Christian-Buddhist comparative theology.
