Festival of Tibet, Melbourne

The Tibetan Community of Victoria is holding their inaugural Festival of Tibet on the weekend of Saturday July 6th and Sunday 7th at the Fitzroy Town Hall.

Saturday will feature a ceremony and birthday luncheon to honour HH the 14th Dalai Lama’s 78th birthday.

There will be a sacred Sand Mandala created, award winning film “Tibet in Song”, Cultural concert, performances by international artists Tenzing Yeshi, Tenzin Choegyal and Lhamo Dolma.

Sunday will be a day of Thangka painting with world famous Tibetan artist Karma Phuntsok, Panel Discussion Q & A “Tibet the Third Pole” featuring expert keynote speakers.

Delicious home cooked Tibetan lunch and refreshments.

Workshop: Tibetan Dances, Tibetan Calligraphy and Thangka painting.

Personal stories of ex-political prisoners from local Tibetan community.

Closing of the festival and dissolution of Sand Mandala.

This is a fundraising event to raise seed money for a Tibetan Community Centre in Melbourne.
