Victoria: Resilient Women Forum



The Uniting Church in Australia (Synod of Victoria and Tasmania) invites you to a Resilient Women Forum on Friday 20 October 2017 at Lynbrook.


 

A new report shows that women are the main targets of Islamophobic violence, with half of offline attacks occurring in crowded public spaces, oen in front of children. This is an important community safety issue. By attending this interactive forum, participants will find out about the practical steps that local agencies, community members and leaders can take to respond to this public form of violence against women.

About:

A forum to Raise awareness of current strategies and develop positive initiatives for individuals, community leaders and local agencies in response to this public form of violence against women.

    Keynote speakers:

  • Inaz Janif, a local school teacher and community activist
  • Mariam Issa, an inspirational public speaker, author and storyteller
  • Peformances:

  • Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa, spoken word poet
  • Manal Younus, spoken word poet; and
  • Playback Theatre Company, an interactive theatrical performance
