OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL

The devastating attacks in Pakistan and Iraq plunged our hearts into grief once again for the innocent civilians killed and wounded. Religions for Peace condemns these attacks, and we stand in prayerful solidarity with those affected.

We categorically reject the misuse of religion to justify violence and terror. The Pakistan and Iraq attacks are painful examples of the abuse of Islam, a religion of peace.

In our sorrow, we commit ourselves further to respect religious differences and to take concrete multi religious action to honor human dignity and advance the common good. May we be renewed in our resolve to build a just and peaceful world even as we mourn.

Dr. William F. Vendley
