A Liturgy with Bishop Vincent Long and Action in Solidarity with the 267 people who face possible return to Nauru will be held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, East Melbourne on Tuesday 16 February, 11am-12 noon.


LITURGY IN SUPPORT OF PEOPLE SEEKING ASYLUM

All are welcome at this special prayer service in support of refugees and people seeking asylum. It will be led by Bishop Vincent Long, ofm conv, himself a refugee to this country and now the Australian Catholic bishops’ spokesman on refugees. In response to Federal government plans to send 267 people seeking asylum from Australia to Nauru, a contingent of Catholic school students, teachers, parishioners, service providers and Catholic leaders will gather at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in East Melbourne to show support and solidarity for the affected 267 people now facing an uncertain future.
