Tasmania: Preparing for the Unexpected

Religions for Peace Tasmania – in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris Australia – will conduct two sessions on preparation for emergencies, also to feed back to our authorities the needs of the members of different faith traditions during evacuations.

Preparing for Storms and Floods

If you were suddenly evacuated from your home due to a flood or storm what would you take with you? What would you keep at home in case you couldn’t go outside for a few days? What happens when we are evacuated?

Come and share in a discussion led by Colleen Ridge, Senior Officer (Planning and Education) of the Emergency Management Unit, Tasmanian State Emergency Service.
Date: Monday 6 November, 3.00-4.30pm

Preparing for Bushfires

Come and hear about the coming heightened bushfire season and discuss what this means for you.

Lesley King, Community Development Officer of Tasmania Fire Service, will talk about stay and defend and leave early plans, what Fire Danger Ratings, Alerts and Warnings mean and much more. Lesley’s task is to help communities to build resilience and capacity in bushfire prevention, preparedness and
response through building knowledge.
Date: Monday 13 November, 5.00-6.30pm
